Newport, Oregon
Location,
location, location... Centrally located on the Oregon Coast and serving
as County Seat for Lincoln County, Newport offers its residents many
other advantages in addition to its natural beauty. These advantages
include, but are not limited to, first class shopping, schools and
health care facilities, an airport with instrument landing technology,
an international port facility which supports an active sport and
commercial fishing fleet, beautiful parks, responsive city services
and homes of exceptional quality and value.
Newport ... a unique blend of nature and progress, located
where the scenic Yaquina River meets the mighty Pacific Ocean. Newport
... a bustling coastal community where friends have been coming for
more than one hundred years to live and work, to relax, play and
unwind. Newport ... rooted in the values of integrity and industry,
united by a spirit of cooperation. For individuals who prefer a temperate
weather environment, beautiful sunsets, rural or city settings, active
or passive lifestyles ... Newport has it all. In fact, families,
singles and businesses looking for a slower-paced, quality lifestyle
have been "discovering" this truly "livable" community
for many years.
Affordable
housing makes the Newport area an attractive location
for families and businesses. Real estate prices average below the
national median, and many outstanding values can be found in Newport
and the surrounding areas of Lincoln County. Young and old can benefit
from the variety of living options. Newport offers unique ocean,
bay and river properties with dramatic sandy beaches, breathtaking
rocky shorelines, hillsides with colorful landscapes and magnificent
viewpoints.
A variety of properties can be found - from older cottage
style to beautiful custom built homes, from condominiums to manufactured
homes, from retirement villages to small acreages hidden away in
the quiet rural countryside. All share surprising affordability,
especially when compared to coastal communities in California and
Washington.
Seal Rock, Oregon
Seal
Rock is located between Newport and Waldport. With spectacular ocean
views A favorite spot is the paved path and overlook at Seal Rock
State Park where a pair of binoculars might allow you to catch a
view of migrating whales or sea birds setting up house .
North and south of Seal Rock, the scenery gives way to
an abundance of lush, green forests and gnarled, twiny, wind-swept
trees. This species is obviously bent inland by the constant, heavy
ocean winds and it doesn't take an expert botanist to see the climate
here requires some hardy and wind resistant fauna. There are entire
sections of this area of the coast where the road is dominated by
long corridors of these fascinating, intricately shaped, warped trees.
Southward however, the area between Seal Rock and Waldport is often
dominated by the wet, thick rain forests more commonly found on the
coast.
Waldport, Oregon
Perfectly
located on the Oregon Coast with miles and miles of sandy ocean beaches
and rocky, picturesque shorelines nearby. Waldport is almost midway
between the borders of Washington and California. That puts it within
easy driving distance of many of the coast's most popular tourist
attractions, such as the Oregon Coast Aquarium, the world famous
Sea Lion Caves, and the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, to name a few!
Waldport is located on the beautiful Alsea Bay, long
recognized as one of the premier crabbing bays on the coast. The
Oregon State Marine Board rates the Alsea Bay in the top five in
the state for annual usage. Perhaps the most appealing facet of Waldport
is that it is largely undiscovered by the masses, so it doesn't suffer
the crushing crowds that so many coastal cities and towns are dealing
with.
Newport is a mere 15 minute drive north, where you can
take in a whale watching charter trip or visit the Hatfield Marine
Science Center or the Oregon Coast Aquarium. You could also take
in a show at the Newport Performing Arts Center and then return to
Waldport for a moonlit stroll on an uncrowded beach. Whatever you
like on the Oregon Coast, Waldport is close enough for you to enjoy
it without the crowds and the traffic.
Yachats, Oregon
Yachats
has a beautiful rocky landscapes along the ocean with lush forest
surrounding the city. Here the mountains move down to the sea and
the terrain becomes as rugged as any coastline on earth.
Just south of town is Cape Perpetua, the highest point
on the Oregon coast. Yachats is situated at the southern end of Lincoln
County. Waldport is the next community north and Florence is located
26 miles south, by way of one of the most scenic stretches of Highway
101.
Located 25 miles North of Florence, and 25 miles South
of Newport, Yachats has a mild climate with a week or two of frost
in the winter and even occasionally and inch or so of snow that may
last a day or two. Yachats is popular with anglers who come primarily
for the smelt season between April and October. This is one of the
few areas in the world where hundreds of these small sardine-like
fish come to shore to spawn. The nearby Yachats River is a popular
spot for salmon and steelhead fishing.
